Thunder Road Reviews

“I wish I could find all the words to describe the magic Clyde and Sally conjure during these weeks, but I can’t. There is a mutual respect and genuine love that is palpable to those of us attuned to the magic.

There are members of our Village that beautifully reinforce the values we want our children to feel are normal for all humans. Thunder Road Music Studios’ owners Clyde and Sally Ogden, and their many professional partners are some of these people. My son has been attending their summer camps since he was seven years old. He will be fourteen in August. Regardless of all the other camps he has tried, this is one of only two that he insists on attending every year; sometimes twice in one summer. He is a passionate percussionist and also an astute lover of all things music, and here he is again – back at Thunder Road for his seventh season. I love coming to the concerts and seeing the interactions between the older musicians and the younger ones; the counselors and the interns; Clyde, Sally, and all the kids. There is a mutual respect and genuine love that is palpable to those of us attuned to the magic. I’m so grateful for the passion, dedication, and love the Ogden’s model and expect of everyone affiliated with their studio, which is a gift to our community.”

“I just cannot say enough good things about the amazing owners and musicians/teachers of Thunder Road. The kindness, support, love and passion for music is present in every single person working for Thunder Road.

Everyone has embraced our son and helped his love of music grow and blossom. Thank you Clyde, Sally, Matt, Alex, Kevin, Kent, Mike, Spencer, Daniel, Ethan, Foster, Marshall, Jack and anyone else we may not have mentioned here. We are forever grateful for you all!”

“I’m so impressed with how Thunder Road approaches learning guitar. I’m 50 and it’s not your father’s approach. Whether it’s for you or your children, I highly recommend Thunder Road!

Before Thunder Road I had taken lessons as a child and tried again when I was 40 and still didn’t feel like I was learning the songs I wanted. I started after my youngest started taking lessons. I was impressed how he was learning rock songs and theory at the same time. Before Thunder Road I had taken lessons as a child and tried again when I was 40 and still didn’t feel like I was learning the songs I wanted. I was stuck in the Hal Leonard method. Thunder Road’s approach is so different! Not only am I learning the songs, but for once I truly understand the theory. It’s been about a year and I still love it.”

“Our boys love Thunder Road, and I could not be happier with our experience there. The staff is amazing, the kids have a great time, and watching them have the rock band experience is such great fun. It’s a well-run organization.

I really feel they are there to make sure everybody learns and has a great time. We’ve done lessons, the jam sessions, and now the summer camp. Chalk us up for two very happy parents and two very happy boys.

“WOW! I honestly can’t say enough good things about Thunder Road Music Studios. Everything they do from music lessons to Rockin’ Summer Camp has consistently exceeded our expectations. And our rocker-boy loves it too!”

“My son is nine, and after only six months he has performed at several real gigs, has cut a CD and has learned what it means to be a member of a band.  The amazing staff at Thunder Road have enabled him to realize that his passion for music is not limited to instruments…move over Mick Jagger…a new lead vocalist has been born! I recommend Thunder Road to everyone, both kids and adults alike. It is unique; much more than the typical music studio. What a fabulous induction into the world of music. Thunder Road is the heart and soul of rock-in-roll!”

“Thunder Road is so much more than a place to take music lessons. The stylish and hip layout of the studio encourages the kids to feel like true rock stars.”

“The Sunday Jam Sessions with fellow students give them the opportunity to experience what it would be like to have their own garage band. The kids get to jam with each other in a fantastically fun environment. Why would anyone choose to take lessons in a glass booth at a music store when they could have so much more. Thunder Road Rocks!”

“I can only describe the student concert in one word: Amazing!”

“Bravo guys. Thanks for making our kids true Rock Stars. It was such a blast for all!  Talk about an incredible experience and confidence builder! It was truly a great show.”

“Thunder Road is a wonderful place for your kids and we highly recommend it. The teachers at Thunder Road Staff are down to earth role models the kids look up to, and the parents trust.”

“The instructors are patient and seem to put as much emphasis on creating a positive atmosphere for the kids as they do on their musical advancement. Recently Thunder Road arranged for the kids to play at Chaplins Restaurant on the porch and deck. My 11 year old son, who is a beginner and can be very shy, played with some of the other kids and plugged away. He practiced to the point his teacher felt he could handle the performance. My son learned what it’s like to stand up in front of a large group of people and perform. He also saw his friends and a few more advanced students take a shot at performing solo, and heard whistles and and loud applause for his group.”
– Brad K.

“Thunder Road has helped transform our very shy 7 year old into a confident 8 year old rocker!”

“It has been amazing to watch the transformation occur as his confidence continues to grow. We love the fact that we don’t have to tell him to go practice, we just hear him crank up the amp and rock out on his own. One additional benefit, his teacher has seen great improvement in his math skills since he began learning guitar. Counting notes, rhythms etc. has made him more aware of his daily use of numbers.”
